Pilates is an exercise programme that concentrates on strengthening the muscles around the centre or 'core' of the body.
These core muscles, which are responsible for your posture, include the deep abdominal muscles that help to flatten the
tummy and stabilise the lower back. We learn a breathing technique that involves engaging the pelvic floor muscles and
the abdominal muscles whilst we move our bodies safely through a series of exercises. The classes will help to rebalance
the body by strengthening weak muscles, lengthening tight muscles, and improving overall posture and wellbeing. Props
such as flexbands, small hand weights and stability balls are used to intensify the exercises in a variety of ways.
There are three Pilates classes per week in Longworth Village Hall to suit all levels:
Tuesdays Beginners 5.45-6.45pm
Tuesdays Improvers: 9.30-10.30am
Thursdays Improvers/Intermediate: 7.30-8.30pm
