Longworth History Society
With Kingston Bagpuize, Southmoor, Draycott Moor
and Hinton Waldrist.

Who are we?
We are a group of people who are interested in the local history of Longworth, Kingston Bagpuize with Southmoor, and Hinton Waldrist. Many of our meetings emphasise that our local history includes 'yesterday' – not just Kings and Queens, Prime Ministers and dates in the distant past. We’re interested in how people lived, worked and played, their lifestyles, homes, food supply and the life of their village.

We meet regularly once a month on the third Wednesday of the month usually at Longworth Village Hall at 7.30pm. We have illustrated lecture evenings with a speaker. In the summer months we have visits to places of local interest. There are theme evenings when we put together a lively session using some of the material from our growing archive of material, much of which has been gleaned from some 200 interviews with local people. If you see an interesting meeting just turn up. Meetings are open to all. Full membership is £6 a year (£9 for family membership). Non-members pay £1 an evening.
