Longworth Environmental Network (LEN)
LEN is a community group formed to support local residents who want to reduce their environmental impact. Current coverage is Longworth village and other local communities.

Under the banner "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" LEN has
  • produced a Community Woodland of 800 trees to reduce atmospheric carbon and be a focus for school visits,
  • organised an ECO day following a showing of Al Gore's film: "An Inconvenient Truth",
  • distributed to all residents a LEN leaflet on how to reduce, reuse and recycle,
  • examined Standby Power reduction and solar PV sell-back power,
  • enrolled as a Community Action Group (CAG) to minimise waste,
  • organised spring and autumn Litter Picks,
  • organised a "Swap Shop" (Give and/or Take) Event, and
  • offered advice on use of green and brown bins supplied by VoWH.

This webpage is necessarily still in the making as the current question is What next?

Most of us are concerned with how we can help reduce emission of carbon dioxide and ease the transition from oil dependence to local sustainability, and others will be soon.
